PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Princess Juliana international airport (SXM airport) made a presentation on the state affairs of the airport on Monday morning. The committee of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunication (CTEATT) Requested a presentation from the airport.
Managing Director of the government owned company gave a power point presentation to the committee and answered questions from the members.
Major projects in the pipeline, Sxm airport will establish a aviation academy this will include training of 3 senior Staff members as ICAO qualified air traffic instructors.
The construction of the physical training center is in the planning Stage and is to be completed by the end of 2015. Construction of a solar Panel field in the south west corner of the airfield will also commence this year.
The upgrading of the terminal building will attract New vendors which will ensure over 200 jobs for the labor market. The airport Director requested the cooperation of government to Speed up the much needed Building permits for all works to start. Pictures off the meeting on Monday morning.
