MARIGOT–President of the French Republic François Hollande will arrive in St. Martin on Friday May 8 for the start of his official visit to the French Antilles, it has been confirmed by the Préfecture.
It was not known, however, if he will arrive at Princess Juliana International Airport or at Grand Case Airport by private jet.
His programme for that day has not yet been disclosed but he will also be visiting St. Barths before going on to Martinique and Guadeloupe on May 9 and 10, and then on to Cuba. It is expected he will be accompanied by Minister of Overseas Territories George Pau-Langevin.
Hollande visited the French territory St. Pierre-et-Miquelon in December 2014 and vowed to visit all French territories by 2017.
The last French President to visit St. Martin was Jacques Chirac in 2000.
