BVI: One killed, two arrested in drug operation

BVI — Two persons have been arrested and one shot dead during a drug-related operation in the waters of the British Virgin Islands this morning (May 18), according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

The RVIPF did not disclose the names of the suspects in a media release, but noted that a quantity of drug was seized.

The operation was done by local law enforcers, in collaboration with their counterparts from the United States.

“U.S. Law Enforcement agencies, together with local Marine Police and Customs officers, were involved in an operation in BVI waters in the early hours of this morning.”

“A quantity of drugs was recovered and two suspects were arrested on suspicion of importation of narcotics and are in custody. A third suspect, who is deceased, was shot during the operation. Investigations are ongoing,” said the RVIPF.
