Cole Bay- Motorworld Sint Maarten will be supporting the Sint Maarten Nature Foundation in bringing awareness on the importance of protecting Sint Maarten’s unique flora and fauna. The public will be shown a specialized public service announcement in the preview sections of cinema features at Caribbean Cinemas showcasing St. Maarten’s unique nature and the need to protect it.
The Sint Maarten Nature Foundation, in cooperation with the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance, developed a two-minute minute video clip highlighting some of Sint Maarten’s natural treasures. However due to the costs associated in showing the clip in the cinemas the Foundation struggled to have the clip aired. “We have been working on this for some years now without much success until Motorworld, in a prime example of Corporate Social Responsibility, graciously suggested that they sponsor the showing of the video, something which we were elated about to say the least,” commented Tadzio Bervoets, Manager of the Sint Maarten Nature Foundation.
In 2013 world renowned wildlife photographer Mauricio Handler spent two weeks on St. Maarten filming and recording St. Maarten’s Nature and the work being done in order to protect it. The visit resulted in the making of a brief, two-minute video highlighting the beauty of nature on St. Maarten and the need to protect it; “This video clip highlights the beauty of St. Maarten Nature both on land and below the sea. The images were recorded by the very famous Mauricio Handler and we were able to make an excellent short video. The idea now is to get as much community support through showing the video in the preview section of the movies in order to educate and enlighten the community of the need to protect the beautiful nature surrounding us,” continued  Bervoets.
Reza Amjad, Managing Director at Motorworld, stated that it was the company’s pleasure to support environmental awareness through the program; “It is part of our corporate vision to support environmental awareness amongst the community of Sint Maarten and through this medium we think we will accomplish just that. It has been our pleasure to support such a highly visible and well-made video which we hope will spur the community to take action and protect their unique environment here on Sint Maarten. We hope that as many people in the community will be exposed to the video and we look forward to, as is said in the clip, Nature being our Future here on Sint Maarten,” commented Amjad.
The conservation video clip will be shown in the preview section of most theatre halls at Caribbean Cinemas Megaplex for a duration of four months.
