Plastic trash is choking our oceans, and 80% of it comes from land. We can do better!

Anguila — Today is World Oceans Day, the United Nations-recognised day of ocean celebration and action. This year’s theme is ‘Healthy Oceans, healthy planet’ and a special effort is being made to stop plastic pollution.

The Governor and Deputy Governor’s office headed out to Mimi Bay to collect rubbish this afternoon to do our bit for our ocean, and to keep Anguilla beautiful. We collected all this in just a couple of hours from one beach.

The UN is asking us all to take the Better Bag Challenge: to help the oceans, do you care enough not to take any disposable plastic bags for a whole year? Go on – every one of us can do our bit.
