PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — On Wednesday June 3, 2015 the Head of the Department of Labor Affairs, Peggy-Ann Dros-Richardson, representing Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA) signed a Service Level Agreement with representatives of Enable NV represented by their Occupational Therapist, D’Antoinette Sorton, and the General Manager, Michel Roger. This signing occurred in the presence of the Senior Job Placement Officer, Sharon Fleming.
The Service Level Agreement was signed to finalize the handing over of a tailored assessment tool to be utilized by the department moving forward and to ensure that the proper elements and commitments are in place to provide delivery and consistent service support.
The tool will be used to assess the more vulnerable persons in our society in order to determine their immediate readiness for the labor market. It is not the intention that this tool will be utilized to assess all clients, however the tool will be used as a means to standardize and upgrade current assessments of particular clients who will benefit from this new tool.
The department hopes that once implemented hard to employ cases will be identified much more quickly. The team will also be better able to cater to each client’s need and ultimately provide quicker job placements while being more valid and reliable. Further to the above, the assessment tool promises to be a rich source of data which can be used to create statistics for Country St. Maarten.
The Department of Labor Affairs is sincerely looking forward to a fruitful working relationship with Enable NV with the acquisition of the assessment tool. The cooperation from the general public and our clients will be needed to make this initiative a success.
