ST GEORGE’S, Grenada — The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) at the University of the West Indies recorded a second small eruption during the night of Thursday at the Kick ‘em Jenny submarine volcano 10 km (6 miles) off the north coast of Grenada.

Following increased seismic activity recorded early Thursday morning, the SRC is continuing to monitor activities at the Kick ‘em Jenny volcano and provide updates and reports to the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA).

Seismic activities continue in the area and residents in the north of Grenada will continue to experience very low magnitude tremors.

The alert level was increased to Orange on Thursday, which remains in effect, and therefore means that all ships must strictly observe the five kilometer exclusion zone of Kick ‘em Jenny.

According to SRC, the undersea volcano remains well below the surface, which cancels out any threat of a major tsunami.
