GREAT BAY– With its main objective being to raise funds for local community and religious foundations, the Christian Women Networking Fellowship will tonight, Friday August 21, host a benefit concert in aid of several outreach projects.
Billed as a free event, the activity will transform the Lazy Bay Parking Lot, in Concordia Marigot, into a mecca of cultural and informative stalls offering food, drink, art and craft and helpful information.
Foundation president Gladys Housen said that the highlight of the evening will be the simultaneous gospel concert featuring songs, dance and poetry. Anguilla’s Susan Best is expected to headline this concert and she will appear alongside local gospel acts such as Benjamin Bell, Malika Maxwell, rapper Torch and spoken word poet, Stephanie Leonora.
Housen said that since her foundation’s establishment, she has installed a group of vibrant and hardworking women who are passionate about making a positive contribution to the island.
She explained that this is the first major public activity for the organization but brunch meetings are usually held every first Saturday of the month at Carl & Son’s café on the Pondfill.
This is the outlet that allows women to discuss fresh ideas, network and present their pet projects in a supportive forum, Housen noted. In the past, the group collaborated with Art Saves Lives Foundation and the Women of Worth And Purpose (WOW-AP) association.
The summer night of fellowship, praise and worship gets underway tonight at 7:00pm. Patrons are asked to arrive early to secure parking and enjoy all of the evening’s entertainment.
