PHILIPSBURG – Are you suffering from social media stress? Do you know what your child is doing with their mobile phones or other electronic media when you are not around? Are you or your child a victim of cyberbullying? If these are questions that you would like to know more about, then this workshop is for you!
The Student Support Services Division (SSSD) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Affairs is organizing an interactive and informative session entitled, “The Dangers of the Internet and the Effects of Technology on the Family.” The information session is intended for the general public and especially parents and teens in order to empower them and their families in using the media to their benefit as opposed to protecting and shielding children and families from the many dangers.
Parents and other interested persons are encouraged to come out to this session which will be held on Wednesday 9th September, 2015 at the University of St. Martin from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
The objective of the session is to bring awareness to parents about the many uses and types of media, the effects that this can have on parents and their children (both academically and socially), and how parental support plays a great role in the future outcome of their child(ren).

The Student Support Services Division(SSSD) provides support services to students referred by the care team of their schools. These services consists of psychological services, counseling services, social work services, educational diagnostic services, career services, speech therapy services and parent education sessions.
