Library offers media literacy courses for teens and parents

medialab young studentsPHILIPSBURG (September 3, 2015)— The Media Lab in the library currently has a new course available for teens and their parents. The course will touch upon all aspects in the area of Media Literacy and safety online.

The Media Lab instructor Lavern Nelson is certified as a Media Coach by the NOMC. She will be teaching on topics such as cyber bullying, social media addiction and online privacy. Earlier this year the Media Lab also hosted sessions for children and teens on Media Literacy, how to make games, play memory activities, make short film clips and programming basics.

In this newest course the emphasis will be on safety online, as this is an important issue in this digital day and age.

The Media Literacy course takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 pm. The sessions for teens will be on Tuesdays and the session for parents will be on Thursdays.
