PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The House of Parliament will meet on Tuesday afternoon September 29 as the adjourned Plenary Session regarding the National Institute for Professional Advancement (NIPA) and other related educational matters is reconvened.
The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Hon. Rita Bourne-Gumbs will be present for the plenary session of the House. This meeting was requested by the National Alliance (NA) Faction.
The public plenary session is set for Tuesday at 2.00pm in the General Assembly Chamber of the House at Wilhelmina Straat #1 in Philipsburg.
The first agenda point is: pending and urgent challenges being experienced by students and staff of NIPA; second on the agenda, a status update and the action plan of government as pertains to students who have been placed (or not placed) in Secondary Public Schools, and have to date not started school as yet; the third agenda point, students in the Netherlands and other countries abroad who have complained that they have not yet received their Study Financing Funds; and the fourth agenda point, status of Study Financing Ordinance.
This plenary session of the House was requested by the NA parliamentary faction Members of Parliament (MPs), namely MP Hon. S.E. Jacobs, MP Hon. W.V. Marlin, and MP Hon. G.C. Pantophlet, in a letter dated September 10, 2015.
The first sitting related to this plenary session regarding the aforementioned agenda points was held on September 14th, 2015.
Members of the public are invited to the House of Parliament to attend parliamentary deliberations.
The House of Parliament is located across from the Court House in Philipsburg.
