Cul de Sac, Sint Maarten — The St. Maarten Tzu Chi Foundation is having a Meatless Month fundraising food sale to raise funds for pupils of All Children’s Education Foundation (ACE) School, who are unable to pay their school fees.
The fundraising effort is themed: “Give a child a chance to attend school.”
The fundraising food sale will be held for the entire month of October. Ticket buyers will be able to pick up their meals at Cake House Supermarket on LB Scott Road every Friday and Saturday.
To make it interesting and to offer variety, Tzu Chi will be offering eight different vegetarian options for the food sale. This means that there will be different food items offered every Fridays and Saturdays throughout the month.
The options are: Veggie ham and cheese sandwich (with eggless cupcake and fresh homemade juice); or Veggie fruit salad sandwich (with eggless cupcake and fresh homemade juice); or Veggie ham pasta (with eggless cupcake and fresh homemade juice); or Cassava cheese pasta (with eggless cupcake and fresh homemade juice); or Tuna pasta (with eggless cupcake and fresh homemade juice); or Sushi veggie plate (with eggless cupcake and fresh homemade juice) and Veggie burger (with eggless cupcake and fresh homemade juice).
The tickets cost US $6 or NAf. 11 for the sandwiches and burger options and US $8 or NAf. 14.40 each for the Veggie sushi plate and pasta options.
Tzu Chi Foundation Commissioner Sandra Cheung thanked Cake House Supermarket for donating the food items to Tzu Chi for “Give a child a chance to attend school,” food sale. She said the foundation is happy to assist the ACE pupils to obtain an education, while promoting healthy eating with the healthy vegetarian options that will be available for the fundraiser.
She said the food sale is unique in that patrons have eight different options to choose from and she expressed hope that the community rallies behind this event in support of education.
Food sale tickets are available at Tzu Chi Foundation office on LB Scott Road or Cake House Supermarket on the L.B. Scott Road or from any Tzu Chi Foundation volunteer.
