PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Police traffic department is investigating a traffic accident which happened on Wednesday December 9th at approximately 12.00 p.m.
The accident occurred on the crossing of Betty’s Estate road and Cordia Drive. The investigation by the traffic department shows, that the driver of a heavy duty dump truck while driving on the Pointsetta road and reaching the intersection in question could not bring the vehicle to a stop because the brakes on the vehicle malfunctioned.
The vehicle struck a light pole from G.E.B.E and then continued on destroying the concrete wall of Cordia road # 2 and then slammed into the bedroom wall of the house.
No one at that home was injured. The driver of the dump-truck complained of pain in one of his hands and was treated on the scene by paramedics.
