PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – SXM DOET is a Kingdom-wide community service campaign that aims to lend a helping hand to active organizations and community projects on Sint Maarten that need it most. Last year it was a great success with over 35 projects and 1000 volunteers participating to make a change. On 11 & 12 March 2016 the island-wide annual SXM DOET event will be back again. This time the project team is aiming for even bigger and better during the second edition of SXM DOET! To ensure that SXM DOET 2016 is a success, SXM DOET is kicking off with a Holiday party next week Wednesday, December 9 2015.

The project team stated: “As we reflect on 2015, and the tragic incidents of this year, it is that obvious we are in need of more positive initiatives in our community that inspire change and unity. Let us end 2015 on a good note and vow to individually and collectively work together towards a better 2016.”

The SXM DOET Project Team and the Be The Change Foundation are inviting interested parties to the SXM DOET Holiday Kick Off Party at the Ocean Terrace at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, on Wednesday December 9th, 2015, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, to learn more about how you can participate in SXM DOET 2016.

The evening includes a presentation on how your organization, volunteer group, business or other social entity can take part in the biggest volunteer event Sint Maarten has ever seen. Take this opportunity to brainstorm with other like-minded individuals who also want to bring positive change to Sint Maarten!

In keeping with the spirit of giving, the SXM DOET team is requesting that every person who attends the Holiday Kick-Off Party brings at least one non-perishable food item or other useful donation item as your “entrance fee”. The donated items will be distributed to the community in time for the Holiday Season via various organizations.
