Student arrested

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Juvenile Department is presently investigating a case involving a 14 year old student attending the Sint Maarten Vocational Training School who was caught by a teacher of that school threatening another student with a knife.

The suspect student was waving the knife in the face of the other student when a teacher caught him. He took off running and tried to hide the knife. Immediately the police was called to investigate what was going had taken place.

The Community Police Officer and a patrol went on the scene and did a search. During the search the knife in question along with a scissors, a flair gun and a flair belonging to the suspect was found.

These items were all confiscated for further investigation and the suspect was arrested immediately.

He was taken to the Philipsburg Police Station where his parents were informed about the situation. The investigation is ongoing.
