GREAT BAY – The Common Court of Justice confirmed the 30-month prison sentence the court in First Instance handed down on November 13, 2014 against Romanian Cristian Mocanu for skimming $4,200 from a client of the Windward Islands Bank and for the use of forged credit cards.

Mocanu was not present at the appeals hearing on May 11 because he has been deported. The court handled the appeal in his absence.

When the 42-year old Mocanu was arrested in 2014, investigators confiscated 23 bank cards, two laptops, a reader machine, $4,200 in cash plus one banknote of one hundred and two notes of fifty dollars. Those three banknotes have been returned to the absent defendant, but how they will reach him is unclear.
