PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The United People’s Party (UP) Board under the current leadership of President Sylvia Meyers, is hereby inviting UP party membership and sympathizers to its party’s Congress for the re-election of the party board.
The Congress will be held on Saturday, June 25 at the Belair Community Center.
Registration for new UP members and current members will begin at 4.30pm.
The highlight of the evening will be the election of the UP President and the UP Party Board.
Leader of the UP Party Member of Parliament Hon. Theo Heyliger will be addressing the membership.
“This is an election year, and the elections will be one of the most important ones in the political history of the country. In September, the voter’s will be asked to cast their vote.
“With a change in Government in the latter quarter of 2015, we now live in a period of uncertainty. We all know that the economy of the country needs stability in order for it to grow.
“The UP Party is looking at the face of uncertainty that beholds our country today, and we look forward with confidence that with the hard work of the people of Sint Maarten along with the business community, we will be able to overcome and provide some stability after the September 2016 polls when the people will decide the fate.
“Once again I invite the UP party membership, sympathizers and new members, to come out on Saturday, June 25 to the UP Party Congress where we lay the path for a party president and board that will prepare for the upcoming elections,” UP President Sylvia Meyers said on Sunday.
