GEBE to co-host Engineering conference

PHILIPSBURG – NV GEBE is preparing to co-host along with Caribbean Electric Utility Service Corporation (Carilec), the 2016 Engineering Conference under the theme: “Transforming the Utility, Learning and Unlearning.” The conference is scheduled to be held at the Sonesta Maho Resort and Casino, July 24-27.

Carilec is an association of electric utilities, suppliers, manufacturers and other stakeholders operating in the electricity industry in the Caribbean. The Corporation organizes various conferences annually that contribute to the further development of its members, as well as to non-members within the Caribbean.

The Engineering Conference is hosted annually under the direction of Carilec. This year some 250 engineers from throughout the Caribbean will visit St. Maarten for the conference. This event is celebrated as one of Carilec’s largest conferences.

The conference is enthused with learning techniques, group working session, panel discussions and other interactive methods. Dealing with aging infrastructure; Embracing technology for utility sustainability; The mobile/digital utility; Engineering research and development for innovation; and Training our engineers for leadership roles, are some of the topics that will be discussed.
