MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, – CANTO Chairman Julian Wilkins delivered a presentation on “Management of Universal Service Funds” at the OOCUR Regulators conference.
This presentation was based on a paper that was produced earlier in the year by one of CANTO’s working committees – the Regulatory Working Committee. His presentation considered the disbursement of funds by Regulators. In addition, he raised the concern that Over-the-top players are eroding Universal Service Funds in the region.
The CANTO Chairman urged Regulators to engage with stakeholders such as CANTO and work with all stakeholders to develop strategies, which ensure existing Universal Service Funds are managed to maximize the benefits of the contribution.
