PHILIPSBURG – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages, which can sometimes save lives.
On Friday, October 28, Pandora St. Maarten hosted their 3rd annual Party For Pink with the Positive Foundation and celebrated their store’s 8th anniversary. It was a fun-filled evening, dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness and the Pandora Store’s latest must-haves of the season including its Pandora Rose™ Collection, Autumn Collection and a sneak peek of the Holiday 2016 Collection and gift sets – releasing November 3.
In honor of Pink October, valued customers sipped pink drinks and enjoyed light bites as they fell in love with the beauty of Pandora jewelry at the store in Philipsburg. A special Pandora compact mirror was given with a qualifying purchase and a portion of event sales was graciously donated to the Positive Foundation.
Additionally, Lady Grace from 102.7FM was in attendance and the lucky recipient of the raffle for a free Pandora Essence bracelet with a pink charm. Attendees had the opportunity to have a screening and consultation with Dr. Grace Spencer.
Elektra of the Elektralyets Foundation cut a cake in honor of all those who are battling breast cancer, which both foundations graciously support.
Pandora is a brand that empowers women and helps them express their individuality. The support that the Positive Foundation embraces is something that goes hand-in-hand with Pandora’s philosophy. Over the last 3 years, the Pandora Store in Philipsburg has held events in cooperation with the Positive Foundation.
Dilys Alphonso, Vice-President of the Positive Foundation, dedicated her time in making the Pandora Team and their clients prepared in understanding the importance of the awareness of breast cancer, the causes, cures, prevention, and how best to live one’s life with positive energy.
“We believe in the change that a positive attitude can make in life no matter how small or big,” explained Alphonso. The Positive Foundation is a non-profit organization in St. Maarten that has been in existence for 18 years. Their mission is to save lives by continuing their breast cancer related initiatives, like free clinical breast examination (CBE), run/walk challenges and community education. Dr. Spencer saw at least 10 of the attendees during the event on October 28.
“We are thrilled to have the chance to support our community and through events like this, we contribute to furthering the goals of the Positive Foundation while empowering women to express themselves with Pandora. We look forward to working together for years to come and encourage everyone to ‘Fight Like A Girl,’ in the battle against breast cancer,” stated Lavina Nandwani of Pandora St. Maarten.
