PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The annual unity ceremony and parade will be hosted by the Prins Willem Alexander primary school. The ceremony will take place at the L.B. Scot Sports Auditorium at 8:30am, followed by the parade, which starts at 10:00am.
All the public schools and the St. Maarten Vocational Training School will take part in the ceremony and walk.
The route for the walk is: L.B. Scot Sports Auditorium, Pondfill Road, turn at GEBE on to Front Street, turn at the Courthouse, to the Festival Village. “It is not a very long parade. We have some small children involved in this, and it usually goes the longer route all the way up Front Street, so it has been shortened,” Minister Jacobs said.
There will be some inconvenience to motorists, as roads will be blocked for the event. According to the Minister, the anticipated time for the inconvenience will be from 10:00am-11:30am.
The minister also said that many schools have pre-St. Maarten’s Day celebrations on November 10, and this year is no different. There are several celebrations taking place at the various high schools, which the Minister will be visiting.
Minister Jacobs added that she is looking forward to the upcoming pre-St. Maarten’s Day Celebrations.
