MLK gives list of concerns to DPE

PHILIPSBURG – On Tuesday, December 6, management and staff of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School, provided a list of concerns to the Department of Education (DPE).

Minister of Education Silveria Jacobs was surprised and dismayed to learn that the challenges being faced had not yet been dealt with when management and teachers requested an urgent meeting on these topics.

Head of Department of Education (DPE) Glenderlin Davis-Holiday, alongside management of MLK School, are currently working on the short-term goals as well as providing an action plan for the long-term. The Ministry is also looking into various means to avoid future reoccurrence.

Minister Jacobs assured the management, staff and the parents and students of the MLK School, that the alleviation of their concerns are a priority, and preparations are being made to ensure the safety and health of all.
