PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Government of St Maarten, represented by the Council of Ministers, would like to update the general public with regards to the Emergency repairs which will be carried out on Back Street. The project is being Financed by the Ministry of VROMI.
We are pleased to inform you, that emergency repairs for Back street will commence on Monday December 5th, 2016. The works are to concentrate on repairing the critical points where the road pavers are completed undone. The works entail temporarily fixing of the road foundation and laying temporarily asphalt to remedy the current situation. The project is schedule to be carried out in (4) four days and will be completed on time for a joyous Holiday Season.
Road Closure for the Four Days of Works is as follows:
- Monday December 5th 2016 from 7:00pm to Tuesday December 6th 2016, 6:00am.
- Tuesday December 6th 2016 from 7:00pm to Wednesday December 7th 2016, 6:00am.
- Wednesday December 7th 2016 from 7:00pm to Thursday December 8th 2016, 6:00am.
(Works during this period will start on the Back Street at the Voges Street intersection removing the paver and repairing the road structure, ending at the Tamarinde Steeg)
- Thursday December 8th, 2016 from 7:00pm to Friday December 9th, 2016 6:00am. (Works during this period will start on the Back Street at the Voges Street intersection laying of asphalt, ending at the Tamarinde Steeg)
The works will be carried out by the contractor Windward Roads. Co-ordination of the works will be carried-out by the Ministry of VROMI.
All Businesses and residence are therefore urge to co-operate during these times of execution and all questions and concerns will be addressed and taken into consideration. Deliveries to and from your establishment can be done via the side roads as access will remain open up until the Back Street.
We Plead that you do not park your cars in these side roads as they should remain free at all times in case of emergency for the Police, Fire, Ambulance Department and for the collection of Garbage. Please respect the code of conduct for this project for an easy transition of the works.
The total duration of the emergency repair works is estimated at 4 calendar days; We understand that it is short notice and apologize for any undue inconveniences that this may cause. Trusting to have informed you sufficiently, working together towards a better St. Maarten for us all.
