*UPDATE*: Saint Lucia Police reports on the eighth murders of the year 2017

This was the first homicide for the year 2017.

Update: Homicide at Gros Islet

A post mortem was conducted upon the body of Jeremie St. Martin, a twenty one year old resident of Gros Islet, who succumbed to injuries sustained during a shooting incident, at Gros Islet, on Friday, January 6, 2017.

The post mortem examination, conducted by Dr. Wayne Felicien, revealed that Jeremie St. Martin died as a result of hemorrhagic shock secondary to gunshot wound to the chest.


This is the second homicide for the year 2017.

Homicide at Leslie Land

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a resident of Arundel Hill, namely Shermiah Clercin.

Police received a report reference to a shooting at Leslie Land, about 11:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017. Shermiah Clercin, who allegedly sustained four gunshot wounds to the chest, was conveyed to the Victoria Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

On Sunday, January 8, 2017, about 4:00a.m. he succumbed as a result of the injuries he sustained. A post mortem is scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2017.

Investigations are continuing into this matter.


This is the third homicide for the year 2017.

UPDATE: Police Shooting at Fond Mange, Marigot

A post mortem was conducted upon the body of Yves Rene, a thirty nine (39) year old resident of Fond Mange, Marigot, who succumbed to injuries sustained during a shooting incident involving the police, on Sunday, January 8, 2017.

The post mortem examination, conducted by Dr. Stephen King, revealed that Yves Rene died as a result of brain and neck injury secondary to shot gun injury.

Police Shooting at Marigot

On Sunday, January 8, 2016, during a police operation, at Fond Mange, Marigot, thirty nine (39) year old Yves Rene alias “Nazarene”, was fatally shot.

He was conveyed to the Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner at 11:52 a.m. A post mortem is scheduled for later today.

Investigations have commenced into this matter under the guidance of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Upon completion of investigations, the file will be submitted to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, whereupon a determination will be made as to how to proceed with the matter.


These are the fourth, fifth and sixth homicides for the year 2017.

Triple Homicide at Jacmel

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of three individuals after a shooting incident in Bois Den, Jacmel.

Police received a report reference to a shooting at Jacmel, about 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Two individuals, namely Gillan Charles, a thirty seven (37) year old and Dequan Joseph, a sixteen (16) year old both residents of Bois Den, were fatally shot and pronounced dead on the scene.

A third individual, Kyle Richard, also a resident of Bois Den was injured during the incident and later succumbed to his injuries at the Victoria Hospital.

A post mortem is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9, 2016. Investigations are continuing into this matter.


This was the seventh homicide for the year 2017.

Homicide at Grande Riviere, Gros Islet

A post mortem was conducted upon the body of Dylan Joseph, a twenty five (25) year old resident of Grande Riviere, Gros Islet, who succumbed to injuries sustained during a stabbing incident, at Grande Riviere, Gros Islet, on Sunday, January 8, 2017.

The post mortem examination, conducted by Dr. Stephen King, revealed that Dylan Joseph died as a result of cardiac tamponade secondary to stab wound to the chest.

Homicide at Bois Patat, Morne Du Don

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a twenty seven (27) year old resident of Jacmel, namely Uriaus Anthony.

Police received a report reference to a shooting at Bois Patat, about 11:45 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2017. Uriaus Anthony was found beneath a shed, with multiple apparent gunshot injuries.

He was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner on the scene.

A post mortem is scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2017.

Investigations are continuing into this matter.
