SIMPSON BAY – Marina-owned and operated by IGY Marinas, teamed up with the International Yacht Collection (IYC) and other stakeholders to help raise $5,000 for the I CAN Foundation.

With the support of its partners and the community, the marina teams organized a successful charity run during the 5th annual “Run to the Beat Fun Run,” held at Yacht Club at Isle de Sol.

More than 120 crew members, along with 15 children from the ICAN Foundation and several members from each marina participated at the fun-filled event, which concluded with a celebratory BBQ and pool party held at IGY Marinas’ Fat Turtle restaurant.

“Both the Yacht Club at Isle de Sol and Simpson Bay Marina teams are thrilled that we could support the I CAN Foundation to bring a smile to those children in need,” said Brian Deher, general manager of both St. Maarten marinas.

“We will continue to assist the I CAN Foundation, with the hope of engaging local and regional marinas as well as marine-related companies to become more involved in giving back to the communities where we live, work and travel.”

IGY Marinas thanked all the sponsors and participants: IYC Crew, National Marine Suppliers, Commodore Suites, ISS GMT Global Marine Travel, Deckers Uniforms 4 Yachts, FIJI Water, Vin Sans Frontières, Luxury Water Toys and Ocean Pantry.

The I CAN Foundation’s mission is to provide living accommodation to children up to the age of 13, who have been victims of neglect, abuse or social issues. As part of the foster home’s programme, each child receives round the clock care, as well as resources and special activities that help shape their future to succeed.

Yacht Club at Isle de Sol and Simpson Bay Marina worked with the I CAN Foundation last year during IGY Marinas’ annual “Inspire Giving through You” philanthropic initiative.

Both the St. Maarten marina teams spent the day renovating and improving the home for the children.
