Two robberies under investigation

Detectives of the Special Unit Robbery are presently investigating two separate robberies which recently took place.

The first robbery took place on Friday May 12th at approximately 03.45 p.m. on the Union Farm road. This is when the manager of a construction company was robbed of the payroll for his employees, by two unknown men armed with guns. After these men robbed the victim they fled the scene.

The second robbery took place on Monday May 15th at Su supermarket on Aaron Jacobs Drive in Cay Bay at approximately 07.25 p.m. This is when two masked men each armed with a machete stormed into the supermarket threatening the cashier and robbing the establishment of an undisclosed amount of cash.  After committing this act both suspects fled the scene on foot.

The Special Unit Robbery is asking anyone who may have information regarding these two robberies to get in contact with the police department by calling 54-22222 ext. 213/ 214, the police anonymous tip line # 9300 or the emergency line 911.


Male suspect arrested for threat and illegal gun possession

A suspect with initials F.C.G. was arrested by Detectives in the afternoon on Sunday May 15th after a complaint was filed against him for threatening the victim with initials J.A.M. and his partner with a gun and also for illegal gun possession.

According to the victim the incident took place at approximately 12.00 p.m. in the vicinity of “El Mango” on the L.B. Scot road. The partner of the victim also confirmed what had taken place.

In connection with this investigation a search of the home of the suspect on Catapult Drive was done and during this search a black and silver colored handgun was found and confiscated. The suspect remains in custody for further investigation.
