Philipsburg, Sint Maarten — Eleven of the thirteen political parties that were registered with the Electoral Council in 2017, submitted their donation registers of 2017 before the dead-line of February 1st, 2018 in accordance with the National Ordinance on registration and finances of political parties.
Before the deadline, one party requested for a week’s extension after the deadline and in the meantime, submitted its donation register to the Electoral Council. However, despite several reminders of its legal obligations by the Electoral Council, the political party One Sint Maarten People Party (O.S.P.P) failed to submit its donation registration.
The Electoral Council is urgently requesting the O.S.P.P. to submit its register of donations for the year 2017 in order to avoid measures being taken against the party as is laid down in Article 44 of the aforementioned National Ordinance.
