The results are in, Sint Maarten, and the people have voted for CHANGE.

With the resounding number of 1,181 ballots securely cast for the Sint Maarten Christian Party on February 26th, we have been given the charge to represent the people in Parliament with integrity, honesty, transparency, loyalty, accountability, teamwork and service.

To the electorate, your peaceful participation in this electoral process is what gives re-assurance that our “Friendly Island” status is not lost. The visiting observers, while noting the activities of our election day, must also have noted the amiable way in which supporters of the six parties interacted with each other.

Thank you to the Civil Registry Department, the Central Voting Bureau and the Electoral Council for a job well done. The staff performed efficiently and maintained composure throughout the entire process.

Thanks also to the Sint Maarten Police Force – KPSM for maintaining law and order throughout the day, particularly at the polling stations.

To the board members, party members, family, friends, well-wishers and all the supporters of the Sint Maarten Christian Party- SMCP, a big THANK YOU because none of this would be possible without your help. We look forward to your continued support as we continue to work with integrity on your behalf.

To our candidates, all twelve persons on the slate, we honor you for all your hard work. We are in this together for the people of Sint Maarten. We are proud of you and proud to be part of this historic moment with you.

Special mention to the team’s campaign manager and deputy leader, Keith Peter J Gittens, and the President of the Board, Jacqueline Godet. Your sacrifices paid off and now we are all celebrating.

Above all, we give thanks to God Almighty for His guidance and wisdom. We ask that HE continues to inspire us with vision, courage, knowledge and understanding in bringing about the change we all want to see in our country.

As your newly elected Member of Parliament, I pledge to continue in dedication and service to all of you, both those who supported me and the Sint Maarten Christian Party, and those who did otherwise.

To all other elected Members of Parliament, the Sint Maarten Christian Party faction stands ready to work with you for the rebuilding of our country. We must re-set our mode of operation, applying higher standards in serving our people. Let us recommit to a vision and purpose that will bring a better, brighter future for generations of Sint Maarteners to come.
