Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 15, 2018 – Police appealed Thursday to the public for information following the alleged assault of a juvenile.

“Police investigations so far have revealed that on Tuesday afternoon (March 14) in the Basseterre area, two men approached a female juvenile, one with what appeared to be a gun and the other with what appeared to be a knife. They physically and sexually assaulted her then fled the scene,” a police statement issued late Tuesday said.

It added that police investigations into the matter are ongoing, but the assistance of the public is very critical in solving this case and others.

“As a result, persons with information regarding this incident are asked to contact the Special Victims Unit at the Basseterre Police Station at telephone number 465-2241 ext4232/4252, or by dialing 665-3091 or by contacting your nearest Police Station,” said the statement.

There was a report Thursday morning that an 11-year-old student was raped by two men. A media house also reported the rape of a female in the Taylors area.

It could not be determined earlier Thursday if both reports stemmed from the same incident.
