HARBOR VIEW — On Tuesday April 3rd, 2018 the Secretary-General (SG) of the Social Economic Council (SER) Curaçao, Mr. Raul Henriquez M.A., paid a courtesy visit to SER Sint Maarten.

SG Henriquez met with the Chairman of SER Sint Maarten, Mr. Ir. Damien Richardson, the SG of SER Sint Maarten, Mr. Gerard Richardson and with the staff members of the secretariat.

It was the first time since the inception of the SER Sint Maarten that the SER Curaçao had a formal meeting between the Secretary-Generals. SG Henriquez expressed his desire to reinforce and maintain a good working relationship between the SER’s within the Kingdom of The Netherlands, mainly with those advisory councils in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

SG Richardson thanked his colleague for the continued support mainly after the passing of hurricane Irma.

During a work visit of Mr. Henriquez to The Netherlands in September 2017, the SER Netherlands endorsed the need for closer cooperation between the Caribbean SER’s and expressed its continued commitment to SER Sint Maarten.

With Mr. Henriquez’ visit a first step was taken to further strengthen the working relationship between the secretariats of the SER Curaçao and that of the SER Sint Maarten.

The SG’s of SER Curaçao and SER Sint Maarten have expressed the need:

  • to jointly work on the institutional reinforcement of the advisory role that they fulfill;
  • to continue and improve the working relationship with SER Netherlands
  • to promote best practices, cooperation and exchange of data in order to learn from each other and strengthen each other.
