GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – Ministry of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Development and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI), announces that the infrastructure beautification works that have started on Front Street will continue during the evening hours.

The project will continue during the evening hours of Wednesday, July 18 and Thursday, July 19.

Ministry VROMI Department of Infrastructure Management will be carrying out the works starting from 8.00PM.

The section of the street to be worked on is in the vicinity of the Guavaberry Emporium on Front Street.  Works will continue to Back Street.

It is the intention of the Department of Infrastructure Management to complete a significant part of Backstreet during the first night, and continue during the second night.

Some of the dead trees will however be tackled during regular working hours, with the use of heavy equipment.

The infrastructure/beautification works entail removal of dead trees; black plastic mats; protruding bolts, metal rods and electrical wires; re-placement of missing bricks; and the removal of old telephone booths.

Various types of heavy equipment will be used. Pedestrians and motorists are therefore requested to drive with caution and to observe traffic directional signs that have been posted.

Ministry VROMI apologizes for any inconveniences this may cause.
