STB Introduces ‘Season Celebration’ on November 28 with Six Cruise Ships in Port

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – The St. Maarten Tourism Bureau (STB) will be launching ‘Season Celebration’ on November 28 in collaboration with Port St. Maarten when the country will see six cruise ships in port.

The objective of the ‘Season Celebration’ is to provide arriving cruise passengers entertainment so they can have a great on-island experience.

Minister of Tourism & Economic Affairs Stuart Johnson says the destination is a showcase of duty-free shopping, entertainment, exquisite culinary, multiple tours and shore excursions that makes the ‘Friendly Island’ truly unique providing memorable experiences for its visitors who keep coming back.

“As a country, this tourist season, we must continue to showcase the destination to its highest standards and maintain those hospitality standards but remaining true to ones-self of being the ‘Friendly Island.’  All the facets of the destination are what keeps our visitors coming back and will help grow tourism overall,” Minister of Tourism & Economic Affairs Stuart Johnson said on Thursday.

Acting Director of the STB May-Ling Chun said that even though St. Maarten is one of the top destinations in the Region, it has to evolve in order to remain at the top.

“We have to evolve, and the program ‘Season Celebration’ program is part of the goals of STB and is also part of the governing program.  We have to make the visitors experience as memorable as possible so they keep coming back for more,” STB Acting Director May-Ling Chun said on Thursday.

The STB realizes the importance of the Cruise industry to the local economy and deems it very necessary to ensure that the country’s tourism product meets the satisfaction of the arriving cruise visitors.

On November 28, 2018 there will be six cruise ships in port. The six ships are MSC Seaside, Marella Explorer, Adventure of the Seas, Oriana, Harmony of the Seas and Seven Seas Navigator.

The ‘Season Celebration’ will include local entertainment in the form of steel pan playing, drum band, stilt walkers and a mini parade at the national seaport Port St. Maarten, Captain Hodge Wharf and the Walter Plantz Square for the arriving visitors.

The visitors will have an opportunity to dance along with the dancers and will be provided with a Carnival mask. Entertainment will take place between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
