CAYHILL — The St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) is proud to announce the addition of a new Anesthesiologist, Dr. Katarzyna Zagólska, who started her tenure at the hospital at the beginning of January and joins current Anesthesiologist, Dr. Yelena George to bolster the Anesthesiology department.

Dr. Zagólska comes from Cracow, Poland where she previously worked at The Order Bonifraters Hospital. After receiving her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Dr. Zagólska completed her post graduate residency at the University Hospital in Cracow.

Dr. Katarzyna Zagólska brings 10 years of experience to the SMMC with the enthusiasm to utilize her knowledge and clinical experience in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care with modern techniques. She describes herself as highly motivated and one with strong work ethics.

Dr. Zagólska hopes to connect with patients and be able to address their concerns with anesthesia and the surgical experience to help make the best of their overall experience at SMMC.

Dr. Zagólska states: “You may only see a patient for a short period of time, but it is so important to have a personal connection with them. Anesthesia is personal, life-involving and brings together family members with the patient. A large part of my job is to introduce someone to that aspect of surgery and make their experience as pleasant as possible”.

SMMC is delighted to welcome Dr. Zagólska to the team of medical specialists as the hospital continues her objective of bringing ‘quality care close to home’ to patients on St. Maarten and surrounding islands.
