SKOS CELEBRATES CATHOLIC SCHOOLS ’ WEEK 2019

(February 4, 2019- February 8th, 2019)

Foundation Catholic Education St. Maarten (aka SKOS) has been established since 1890. It is the competent authority for 7 schools. There are 6 Primary Schools and 1 English High School. Attached to every Primary School is an Early Childhood Stimulation Group and an after School Program until 5.00 pm. The Foundation caters to a total of 1853 students and a dedicated staff of 230.

The Foundation will be celebrating its annual Catholic Schools’ Week from February 4th through February 8th, 2019 to enhance the unity amongst our schools and to celebrate our 129th year of Catholic Education on St. Maarten. A series of activities have been planned to highlight this occasion.

Our theme this year is:  “We are called to be grateful”

During this week, students and staff will be reminded that they should be grateful for the many things God has blessed them with. We are especially grateful for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our savior.

The program is as follows: Saturday February 2 and Sunday February 3, 2019

Mass attendance dressed in school uniform

In the weekend of February 2nd and 3rd, 2019, students and staff members will wear their school /work uniform when attending Mass. This will be done to high light the awareness of Catholic Schools Week 2019 and to demonstrate the connection between the Catholic Schools and the Catholic Church.

 A Thanksgiving Mass and Performances

Venue: The L.B. Scot Sports Auditorium Time: 7.30 am- 10.30 am

Friday February 8, 2019

Teachers Formation Day at St. Dominic High School.

( No school for our students)

The program begins with a Prayer Service led by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Adam Oleszczuk SVD.

The program continues with workshops. The theme for our workshops are “ Journey to a higher well-being” All of our presenters are residing on St. Maarten and are professionals in their field of expertise.

They are: Dr. Tasheena Maccow Thomas, Dr. Erna Mea Francis Cotton,Ms. Melba Wescott, Ms. Cathrine Burns , Mr. Fernando Richardson, and Mr. Peter Smits
