PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The KPSM’s Patrol Unit conducted early morning controls, during the hour of 7:00am – 8:00am, on Wednesday February 6th in the vicinity of Liliy road and Gladiola road. The controls were held in an effort to put a stop to the vehicles that make a right turn, in the wrong direction, on the Lily road from the Carnation road in hopes to cut traffic time in the morning.
A number of complaints have been made of vehicles endangering others coming up the right direction of the one way street.
The Patrols stopped 46 cars during the control and each person was given a fine. A total of 11.500,- guilders of fines were given out on that morning. One person was placed under arrest for outstanding unpaid fines.
Controls are sleighed to continue as of next week. The Sint Maarten Police force would like to ask all persons of the community to respect the traffic laws to ensure everyone reaches to their destination in a safe and timely manner.
