PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Over the past few weeks, eight staff members and one resident from the Turning Point Foundation participated in the American Heart Association’s CPR/AED and First Aid certification courses. These courses are offered locally through the W.I.E.M.S organization.

The choice to train as many of the staff as possible was to create a class with as few contacts with the general public during this pandemic. Included in the team from Turning Point was one resident who has hopes and dreams of becoming a fireman. Turning Points’ staff truly appreciated the opportunity that was given to them.

One staff member stated, “We all came out and participated in the course to gain the knowledge and skills in Basic Life Support that is needed in the workplace and in everyday situations. We also want to thank the W.I.E.M.S organization for taking the risk, even during this COVID-19 pandemic to accommodate the personnel of Turning Point Foundation. Also, for allowing us to continue to improve the quality of service to our clients and in turn the general population of St. Maarten.”
