SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN: …A SMALL CRAFT WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR ST MAARTEN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE…
DATE ISSUED: Wednesday, December 30, 2020 TIME: 18:00hrs (22:00UTC)
A strong Atlantic high-pressure ridge will account for strong winds and hazardous sea
conditions for the next few days.
Increasing winds will further deteriorate sea conditions. Seas of 10 to 12 feet are possible
tomorrow. Hazardous conditions will continue through the remainder of the week. Consequently, the Small Craft Advisory has been upgraded to a Warning for St. Maarten
until further notice.
Sea bathers should avoid swimming, and small craft operators should exercise extreme
caution to guard against loss of life and/or property damage. Beach erosion will also be of
concern, particularly along the eastern and northern shores of the island.
FORECASTER: Gordon
A Special Bulletin is issued for weather or marine events that are unusual, cause general inconvenience or public concern (which may require the attention and/or action of fire department and police authorities) and cannot adequately be described in a regular weather forecast.
A Small Craft Advisory announces that the sea will likely become somewhat rough (today) or is already occurring.
