BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Adlai Smith has confirmed that Kyron Phillip, a man wanted in connection with a homicide (in St. Kitts and Nevis), has been apprehended in St. Martin.

In an address, Smith stated that Phillip was detained late last week and is now the subject of a police investigation in St. Martin. Authorities in St. Kitts and Nevis are actively working with their counterparts in St. Martin to facilitate his extradition and further legal proceedings.

Phillip, 29, of St. Peter’s, was wanted for questioning regarding a homicide that took place last year in the St. Peter’s area. Law enforcement had previously issued a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest after he evaded capture, prompting speculation that he had fled the country.

The case gained further attention when Prosecutor Shantrice Dorsett was arrested and charged with allegedly assisting Phillip in his escape.

According to DPP Smith, Dorsett has been charged with:

  • Accessory After the Fact to Murder
  • Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice
  • Misconduct in Public Office
  • Corruption

She remains in custody while her bail application is under review by the High Court.

“Given the serious nature of the allegations surrounding these cases, my office will continue to closely monitor all developments and provide updates as necessary,” Smith stated.
