Philipsburg, Sint Maarten — On Friday, April 4th, 2025, Member of Parliament Veronica Jansen-Webster, Chair of the Committee for Public Health, Social Development and Labor (CVSA), organized an official tour of the Mental Health Foundation. The visit provided an important opportunity for Members of Parliament serving on the CVSA to gain firsthand insight into the operations, challenges, and needs of the Foundation.
During the tour, MPs were guided through various areas of the facility, including patient care and residential units, allowing them to observe living conditions and engage with staff and healthcare professionals. The Foundation’s management delivered an in-depth presentation on their services and the ongoing challenges faced in providing quality mental health.
MP Jansen-Webster expressed her appreciation for the dedication of the Foundation’s staff and reiterated her commitment to improving mental health infrastructure. “Mental health is a cornerstone of public well-being. It is our duty as policymakers to ensure that facilities like the Mental Health Foundation are equipped to serve our people with dignity, compassion, and the necessary resources,” she stated.
