PHIIPSBURG, Sint Maarten –A group of Arab and Indian merchants have come together to help the victims of the devastating storm that ravaged the Nature Isle of Dominica with torrential rains and flooding, killing more than two dozen persons and leaving many more displaced.
In light of the devastation, a few Indian and Arab businesses from Back Street got together and collectively contributed over US $10,000, which were used to procure dry goods and groceries.
Goods equivalent to a 20 feet container were packed with items such as juices, cereal, milk, flour, diapers and other basic necessities. Kam’s Trading donated three pallets of dry goods to the cause as well.
The container will be shipped this weekend to the Commonwealth of Dominica Relief Aid with the help of CaribTrans which has waived all freight charges for relief supplies that are being sent to Dominica. The group of merchants offered its condolences to the persons who perished in the storm and prayed for a speedy recovery of Dominic
