PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Opposition parties, NA and DP have wasted no time in requesting a meeting of Parliament on the topic of the settlement between the Harbor Group of Companies and Zebec.
In the letter requesting the  urgent meeting, the 2 parties have outlined the reasons for this request as follows:
Port Harbour open lot-001
“The government-owned Harbor Company and its representatives have in the recent past labeled the court action by Zebec against aforementioned company as “wholly without merit” and the claims by the Zebec company as “blatant misrepresentation of facts”.
In a round-about  way therefore way accusing the Zebec representatives of lying.  The lawsuit, which Zebec initiated, was deemed “frivolous” by the representatives of St. Maarten Harbor.
The harbor further stated that it would  “LOOK INTO OPTIONS OF RECOVERING DAMAGES FROM ZEBEC”!
Now we learn from newspaper reports that Zebec is being paid out and the details are subject to a non-disclosure clause.”
What could have transpired that caused such a drastic turn and now the Harbor rather than recover damages, has to pay damages? In the end, all this means is that the taxpayer has to foot the bill, one way or another.

Next week being a meeting week of Parliament, the members are looking forward to this meeting being held within the period stipulated by law, namely 4 days.
