PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Dutch Ambassador to Cuba, Mr. Nobert Braakhuis, paid a courtesy visit to the Chamber of Commerce & Industry during his trip to St. Maarten.
On Wednesday, September 9th the Ambassador met with Chamber President Ms. Peggy Ann Brandon and representatives of the Indian Merchants Association, Chinese Community Foundation, St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association and the Arabian Business Community.
The Ambassador gave vital insight into Cuba’s recent developments and economic outlook.
The candid exchange that ensued between the Ambassador and the attendees was indicative of the interest of our business community in the developments in Cuba relating to the attraction of foreign investments.
The business community aware of the opportunities of business expansion, realizes that it must also prepare for adverse effects on the longevity of its business in Sint Maarten, as a result of Cuba’s developments.
COCI will commence with the assistance of the embassy in Cuba to obtain relevant information for the business community in Sint Maarten and shall undertake in this context the formulation of fact finding missions to Cuba, allowing for better preparations by our business community.
COCI is thankful to the Ambassador for the time spent with our business community representatives.
