GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – The Inspection Department of the Ministry Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (TEATT), last week Thursday, September 10th, led a joint control team of 25 law enforcement officers of various departments including Tax Administration, Inspectorate of Public Health, Social Services & Labor, Immigration, Control Unit, Economic Control and Casino Control, in a control operations of a number of businesses.
The joint multidisciplinary team controlled two locations namely, Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Princess Juliana International Airport.
The purpose of the control was two-fold, firstly to control machines involved in games of chance to ensure that they are properly licensed and registered and secondly to control the businesses operating on the airport for proper licenses and registration with the relevant authorities.
In total nine businesses were controlled at the airport and 60 gaming machines were controlled at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort.
The Inspection Department TEATT advises all businesses to have their business and director licenses and Chamber of Commerce registration visible in their establishment at all times as required by law.
All business, director and Chamber of Commerce annual fees must be up to date for 2015 as well. Controls on businesses will continue and the business community is advised to ensure that their administration is update and in order.
