PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Ministry of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Development and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI), will kick off a very needed project in October in collaboration with the Community police officers, geared at removing all car wrecks and illegally placed cars from public roads and spaces.
This project comes after thorough communication with community councils and careful observation of the increasing number of car wrecks and illegally placed cars that cause a nuisance, health hazardous and often dangerous circumstance for communities, which become infested with rodents and waste.
The project is proposed to commence October 7, 2015 through May 2016 starting every Wednesday from 8:00 am to 12 noon. Each month a district will be scheduled for cleaning in sequence with the CPO schedules. The schedule for the removal of car wrecks and illegally placed vehicles for your area will be placed on the Government Information Page one week prior the commencement of the actions. The proposed schedule is as follows:
- October – Colebay
- November – Cul de Sac Basin (northern area)
- December – Cul de Sac Basin (Southern area)
- January –Dutch Quarter/Belvedere
- February – Simpsonbay/Pelican/Cay Bay/Indigo Bay
- March – Lower Princess Quarter
- April – Great Bay/Upper Princess Quarter
- May – Lowlands/Beacon Hill/Maho
Vehicles belonging to persons matching the criteria of unpaid road tax, outdated inspection, abandonment, and hazardous to public safety, will be advised with official warning to remove their vehicles. Failure to do will result in the vehicle being towed or even crushed.
Further attention will also be invested in illegal garages.
