PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — On Friday, December 4, SCELL, The University of St. Martin’s School of Continuing Education and Life-Long Learning, held its second Women’s Island Network membership event, (WIN) at Buffalo Wings in Cupecoy. WIN was founded by Dr. Natasha J. Gittens, Ph.d., CHE, SCELL’s Director.
The Owners of Buffalo Wings, Alyandra del Valle Rojas Orta and husband Eduard Camacho Arrieta and co-owners Victor Aceredo & Diana Panzanelli share the same philosophy, that education is the key to success and limitless opportunities. They have all teamed up with SCELL to directly support the WIN’s mission to: “To embrace and mentor young women and empower women as a whole to pursue educational opportunities at The University of St. Martin and The University of the Virgin Islands at USM.
Gittens stated: WIN is pleased about the partnership with Buffalo Wings as our WIN Restaurant sponsor their support will allow us to host membership meetings, scholarship events and community events focusing specifically on encouraging women of all ages to pursue higher learning opportunities.
Gittens appointed Alyandra del Valle Rojas Orta, one of the the owners of Buffalo Wings, who holds a MBA and Business Law Degree as an Honorary Board Member at the event on Friday Night.
Orta stated: The appointment is an honor for me. I have always valued Education and many of my accomplishments in my life have supported my success and the success of my family. Buffalo Wings commitment to SCELL and the WIN organization is just one way we want to thank the St. Maarten community for their support of the restaurant since 2014, and showcase our true commitment to supporting educational enhancement on the island of St. Maarten.
