POINTE BLANCHE, Sint Maarten – On Sunday, March 27, a total of 126.8 kilograms of marijuana was found in a container at the harbour.
On March 31, further investigation and a search led to Customs authorities discovering another 16.5 kilograms of marijuana in the same container.
The container originated from Jamaica and has St. Maarten as final destination. No arrests have been made as yet in this case.
In light of the ongoing investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office cannot give any further details about the investigation.
In a related case, Customs authorities in St. Maarten intercepted a cocaine shipment that was destined to another Caribbean island.
The Prosecutor’s Office will not confirm nor deny any reports about drug transport(s) whereby cocaine was supposedly confiscated at the harbour in St. Maarten.
