Elderly female robbed

The Special Robbery Unit is presently investigating the armed robbery of an elderly female, which took place on Monday, April 4, at approximately 6:30pm.

The 73-year-old victim had just left the Rouge et Noire Casino on Front Street, and was walking towards the Chinese restaurant in that alley when she was suddenly attacked from behind by an unknown assailant, who was dressed completely in dark clothing with a “hoody” covering his head.

The robber, who was armed with a knife, stabbed the victim and then fled the scene in the direction of the Boardwalk, taking the victim’s bag.

The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further treatment. After treatment the victim was allowed to go home.
