Ongoing fraud investigation

The Fraud Department of the police force is presently investigating a case concerning the stealing of checks from a local business. The checks were probably stolen by one of the employees. The checks, which were made up for a considerable sum, were cashed possibly by a third party.

Three persons were arrested between Friday, May 13, and Monday, May 16, as suspects in this investigation. One suspect has been released while two others remain in custody for further investigation.

Armed robbery

On Monday, May 16, at approximately 1:00pm several police patrols were directed to Island Water World in Cole Bay, where shortly before three armed men dressed in dark clothing had stormed into the building. They threatened the use of their fire arms and robbed the establishment of an undisclosed sum of cash.

After committing the act, the robbers fled the scene on foot. A complete search of the area by investigating officers did not have any positive results. The Special Robbery Unit is investigating.
