PHILIPSBURG – September 21 was World Alzheimer’s Day, and President of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams signed the declaration of The Global Parliamentary Action Group on Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
By signing, the President of Parliament has committed to: initiate and support efforts in St. Maarten focused on increasing funding to support Alzheimer’s and Dementia research to achieve the 2025 goal of finding a treatment; to also support efforts to improve quality of care in all stages of the disease; support families of those affected; support efforts to advance prevention and risk reduction; help raise awareness of these diseases and promote at national and local level the creation of dementia-friendly communities.
September 21 also marks the fifth global World Alzheimer’s Month under the 2016 theme “Remember Me.”
