GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – The Inspectorate of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunications, hereafter referred to as TEATT reminds business owners and the general public that that Minister of TEATT, via ministerial regulation, established a list of maximum prices for hurricane items on August 23rd, 2016 which is valid until November 30, 2016.

Additionally, the Inspectorate has created a booklet titled “Maximum Price of Hurricane Items 2016” and placed them at strategic points island-wide like the Public Service Center in Simpson Bay, Civil Registry, the Department of Economic Licenses and at the Inspectorate itself located at the Yellow Building.
The general public is encouraged to pick up a copy of the booklet from any of these locations and use it as a reference guide when shopping as it establishes the maximum price of specific items and based on quantity and size.
Items not included in the list are not under price control. Once again these prices are in effect until November 30, 2016.
If items with established maximum prices are found to be selling for a higher price than established, consumers can report this to the Inspectorate of TEATT at the Yellow Building; our contact telephone number is 542-4509 or email idez.inquiries@sintmaartengov.org.
It is highly recommended to have a receipt other proof of purchase available when making a formal complaint. Alternatively, you may also provide the name of the business where the violation was found if no purchase was made.
